Celebrating Life... with the site history of www.daveharm.com
|
The original site was a pre-made site, which all I had to do was insert my information.
Seven pages long, I was allowed to only have one picture, which was shown on every
page. It was a hard site to maintain and to keep the viewers interest. Another bad
idea with this site was setting it up with a music theme. At the time, I was really
wanting to convert my poems to music and thought it would help. I could get people
to stop by for a visit, but to have them return was nearly impossible. This site was
running for about six months, even though I knew it was a very boring site.
As boring as the first site was, there was another nightmare. In my own stupidity I
created a similar site called War Zone which offered free advice for those in
recovery. Another seven page flop which I put out of its misery about one month after
it was launched.
The beginning of my revolution began with this set-up. It was only four pages long
and another as a contact page. This site allowed me to link to other sites and add
pictures. I could change colors and font sizes. The background was one of an
agricultural theme, which I liked because by now I started using the Creating Dreams
quote and the idea of a site about growth fit in well together. Eventually, I outgrew
the set-up and it was hard to keep organized. The colors of template (yellow, green,
and orange) also made it hard to blend everything together and make it easy on the
eyes.
I started my adventures on the Internet on July 4, 2004. I was home alone because my wife was at the hospital
with my father-in-law. It was hot outside and I began looking at the possibility of getting my own website. The
reason for this was because I wanted a way to help promote my books on line. And this would be the most cost
productive way to do it.

This site set-up has been my "calling card" for almost a year now and continues to
evolve and grow. It started as a five page site that is now 17 pages long. It is easy
to navigate and extremely easy to keep organized. For the most part, everything you
need to know about me can be found on this site. If it isn't directly on that site, you
can find a link on where to find it. The only changes over this time frame has been
the evolution of the header for the pages.
How do I classify this site? The original Celebrating Life lasted from November of '06
to July of '07. Only four pages, it offered the reader something new every month
from poetry to articles. It began to have a following but people were getting confused
as to the difference between Celebrating Life and Creating Dreams. So the original
pages were absorbed by Creating Dreams.

August 2007 to October 2007
After a month's hiatus Celebrating Life returned as an awards program with full certification. Its quick rise
(and fall) are to long to get into here, but I did enjoy it while it lasted. Right now, this is the new look for
Celebrating Life. Where it goes and how it evolves time will tell.

My blog. I need to spend more time with this site and get in the habit of writing
something at least every other day. Someday, hopefully I will.
